Everybody took a break. Except us.

Melissa Benavente and Andrew Cuellar were married on a beautiful autumn day at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bakersfield. As is often the case during the busy wedding season, there was a two-hour gap between the ceremony and the reception. Break time for everybody. But not us. We knew that this would be a perfect opportunity to get those first pictures of Melissa and Andrew alone, after the excitement of the preparations and ceremony. So John jumped in the Hummer limo that would take them home for a few hours, and Felix followed in his truck.

The result was some fun and truly candid moments yielding photos you wouldn't expect from a traditional wedding shoot. The two photos of Melissa playfully chiding the yawning Andrew -- one shot by each photographer -- are among her favorites. And she gave us this great compliment: "You are the best-kept secret in Bakersfield. I'm going to make sure everybody knows about you guys!"
